Entry Guidelines

  • Deadline for entries is 5pm, Friday, May 30th, 2014

  • Students will work individually to design a sneaker of the future. Students may submit one entry each.

  • This contest is open only to students attending schools in the Greater Toronto Area.

  • All entries must be two-dimensional and should be mounted firmly on one piece of card or foam core. Minimum size is 11 x 17. Maximum size is 24 x 24.

  • Submissions must have been originally illustrated by hand. The design must be 100% original and cannot reference any celebrity likeness or copyrighted material.

  • Students may submit quality copies of their work and keep the originals. Students are also encouraged to photograph their submissions for their portfolios.

  • If creating a model was part of the design process, it may be photographed and the photos included on the board. Do not send the models or any other additional materials.

  • Any written work with the submission must be integrated on the presentation board and must not exceed 250 words. The student name, school and grade must appear on the BACK of the board. Each presentation board should be individually wrapped or placed in a large envelope. The application form should be stapled or firmly taped to the outside wrapping.

  • Entries will not be returned and will become the property of the Bata Shoe Museum. By submitting an entry, participants consent to the use of images of the entry by the Bata Shoe Museum or outside media to be used in print and online publications, the BSM's social media platforms, external newspapers, TV news programs, etc.

Judging:

All entries will be judged in June 2014 by a panel of professional sneaker designers and/or design educators. If the submissions do not meet the contest requirements, the panel reserves the right to exclude them from the judging. All decisions made by the panel are final.

Prizes:

All winning and honourable mention entries will receive certificates. Prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will be:

The winning submissions will be displayed in the B1 Foyer of the Bata Shoe Museum in June 2014.
